What books are good for

When the weather is yucky and everyone is sick, sometimes it's nice to hit the bookshelves and...
construct a "train track".

Woo woo!

Welcome snow!

First we had flurries that didn't stick. But we caught flakes on our tongues and had fun anyway.

Then it snowed for real.

And we remembered why we bought such hilly property!

Gifts for geeks

Signals rocks! They have witty stuff! I want it!

Of course they also kinda suck because I can't grab their images to post here for your viewing pleasure. So you'll either have to take my word for it, or actually visit their site. Sneaky.

My favorite items:
Chemistry shirt
Pi plate
and finally,
English Major shirt
because, well...I was. And hubby majored in math. Could that be more perfect? :p

The Place for Smiles

'Tis the season for heartstring-yanking commercials. Some of them are classics that air year after year. You know the ones: the coffee commercial with the college-aged son home early to surprise the family, Ronald McDonald ice skating on a pond with a bunch of kids... Especially for people of my generation, these ads can evoke as much nostalgia as the actual Christmas specials.

Or eye-rolling dread. Frankly, I'm sick of the coffee kid. But whatever.

For those of us in the Pittsburgh region, it just isn't Christmas until this little classic airs. For those of you from Places Beyond, this commercial for a local restaurant chain has been airing for a gazillion years and damn it, I still get teary-eyed the first time I see it every season.

Happy Holiday season, everyone!
