I couldn't let it beat me! I'm proud to say that after an afternoon of tweaking, it's much improved. Rather than recut it from scratch, I decided to maximize what I had and just alter the existing garment. It's just...quilted. And as a general rule, I try not to dress in things that add puffiness.

Sometimes, no matter how well you take measurements, a garment sews together with a completely different fit than you expected. Although it's an extra investment in time and effort, it can save a world of heartache (and a small fortune in fabric) to make a practice "muslin". It's true for formal wear, and it's true for costumes.

This is another apron which is in such a state of disrepair that it's no longer functional. I'm not sure why I keep holding onto it, but I suspect it's a combination of factors.
I find the print appealing.
I find the cut appealing and might get a wild hair and copy it someday.
I feel too guilty to throw it away.

I finished embroidering their faces today, and decided to turn the rest of the pink skein (bunny noses) into something lovely. So I started knitting a hat for another friend's daughter.

I recently knit a pair of baby booties ("Baby Janes" from Wandering Cat Studio. Super easy and fast!) for a friend to give to her little God-daughter as a gift. I wanted them to look extra-nice (and to properly communicate the care instructions), so despite my lack of an Etsy storefront, I decided to go semi-pro and make a custom hang tag for them.
